If you read modern dietary recommendations or watch TV ads, you can decide that in the mornings you can and should eat absolutely everything and more. Sweets that need to be eaten before 12 in order not to get better are extremely undesirable as a breakfast.
Let's take a closer look at what 10 foods on an empty stomach are undesirable and why.
10. Sweets
Contrary to popular belief that it is safe to eat sweets at breakfast, we consider it our duty to warn you. The fact is that our body is subject to daily biorhythms, synchronizing with which the main glands produce hormones. The "sleepy" pancreas is not able in the morning to secrete the necessary amount of insulin to neutralize glucose. If you eat a shock dose of chocolate, cakes, cakes or even dried fruits on an empty stomach, then there is a risk of disturbing the acid-base balance, as well as temporary hyperglycemia, which will lead to general malaise, dizziness, loss of strength and other unpleasant symptoms. Spare the pancreas and eat sweets as a second breakfast.
9. Yogurt and other dairy products
Nutritionists advise consuming fermented milk drinks and products to activate the stomach, which is facilitated by beneficial bacteria (lactobacilli, probiotics, etc.). The thing is that the microflora in the "empty" stomach falls under the excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid and simply dies, which makes the use of yogurt at least useless. It is advisable to drink fermented milk drinks for digestion only a couple of hours after a snack or already before bedtime. That is why it is desirable to still fill the morning oatmeal with a milky-aqueous liquid, rather than kefir or yogurt.
8. Butter baking
Yeast sweets, rolls and bread, in principle, are not very useful, since microorganisms in their composition aggressively affect the delicate gastric mucosa. Eaten on an empty stomach, yeast can cause bloating, colic and flatulence, which will create an awkward situation in public transport and at work. Do not forget that often baked goods contain simple carbohydrates and sugar, which require the production of insulin. And as we remember, the pancreas is not very quick in the morning. Try to use biscuit, sand or puff pastries as a sandwich base, if you can’t do without baking at all.
7. Cucumbers and other green vegetables
A fasting vegetable salad as a dietary dish is a bad idea. Cucumbers, and various other green and yellow vegetables, are rich in organic acids. Yes, in general, they are very useful for health, but they are fatal for the gastric mucosa. Once in the body, acids begin to irritate the delicate mucosa, provoke the production of hydrochloric acid, which further corrodes the surface. In the best case, you will end up with heartburn and aggravation of gastritis, and in the worst case, you can “wake up” only a starting ulcer. If you want to enjoy vegetables in the morning, take care of their heat treatment. Preference is still better to give cereals and cereals, as well as neutral vegetables like zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli and fresh celery.
6. Bananas
Fruit salad, and even under yogurt dressing, as we will find out later, is not at all useful as a diet morning meal. We begin to consider the components of the salad with bananas. Yes, these tropical fruits are a storehouse of slow carbohydrates, which allows the body to fill with energy for several hours. And magnesium and potassium in the composition are useful for brain activity and the full functioning of the heart muscle. That's just the last such load in the morning early is not needed. The heart pumps blood more slowly overnight, regulates its rhythm, so a sharp release of useful trace elements into the blood only increases the load on it. And bananas are poorly absorbed, so on an empty stomach they can cause fermentation and decay, bloating. Nutritionists advise eating bananas an hour after the main snack.
5. Pears
The next fruit in question is a pear, which is good as an additional snack, but not the main one. Excess dietary fruit contains coarse dietary fiber and pectin, which perfectly clean the stomach and intestines from toxins, but on an empty stomach can cause irritation and injure the mucous membrane. We also do not recommend combining the pear with water, sour-milk and milk drinks, which can cause fermentation, bloating, and sometimes severe diarrhea.
4. Spices
Season the morning dishes can only the bravest of people whose stomach is used to extreme stress. But seriously, spices and seasonings on an empty stomach are prescribed only for medicinal purposes, since they affect the body akin to drugs or medicines. A high proportion of active and harsh ingredients burns and injures the gastric mucosa, causes excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid, which in total increases the risk of ulcers and exacerbation of gastritis. You can add a little sweet paprika, turmeric or saffron to your morning porridge, but you will have to refuse cinnamon, ginger, zira, curry, various types of peppers.
3. Tomatoes
Tomatoes are a storehouse of organic acids. Specifically, tannic acid in combination with hydrochloric gastrointestinal tract sharply increases the risk of cracks in the mucous membrane, which can provoke an ulcer with internal bleeding, acute gastritis, colitis, enterocolitis, as well as pancreatitis. And in general, a salad with tomatoes increases the acidity of the body, but for the normal life, the latter is more useful to stay more in an alkaline environment. Note - sweet potatoes and everyone’s favorite tart persimmon also contain tannins, so we don’t recommend having breakfast.
2. Citrus fruits
Continuing the theme of fruits, we note that it is strictly forbidden to put citruses in the morning sweet salad. They should be eaten carefully even during the day, because an excess of acids always leaves a risk for heartburn and attacks of gastritis. On an empty stomach, we do not recommend using oranges, lemons, grapefruits, limes, sweeties and tangerines, but an hour after the main hearty food or a sour-milk drink is possible. Also, allergens that are rich in citrus will be absorbed more strongly in the empty intestines, which can cause an acute reaction up to Quincke's edema. Do not give oranges to small children in the morning!
1. Cold and carbonated drinks
Everything that contains carbon dioxide is a priori dangerous for the gastric mucosa, so we do not recommend using citro and carbonated mineral water. Also, such drinks have a bad effect on blood flow and impair digestion. As for the cold liquid, it literally thermally “burns” the unprepared gastric tract, irritating its walls. If you want to start digestion in the morning, drink carrot-apple juice or warm water, but beware of refreshing soft drinks with ice, even in summer heat.
Remember that the key to a good and productive day is a wholesome and healthy breakfast. If you do not want to suffer from colic and heartburn at work, then pay attention to the morning menu and try to eat the most gentle products.
